For a while now, our Wii’s disc slot has been flashing what seemed to be randomly when in stand by mode. Hoping it wasn’t Nintendo’s equivalent of the Xbox 360’s circle of death lights I thought it was about time to investigate why it was happening. Turns out someone in the household (and you know who you are) turned on the WiiConnect24 in standby mode to on. So basically the Wii downloads updates, and the thing I had previously dismissed before, messages to your inbox. Apparently the blue light flashes when you have a new download or message to alert the user. Great idea if you know what it’s about. So now I knew what it meant, I started going through the various messages we have had from Nintendo directly, and one of them was for some protective Wii Remote sleeves that they will now be issuing with all new Wii and Wii remote units. The nice guys at Nintendo have decided if you have already purchased your Wii before they make this release that you can order them for free. We have ours on order for our three remotes already.
